In June, the city council of Ripollet asked me to paint a mural in the old part of the city. They choose the old town hall (La Casa de Comú in Catalan) where there is documented history since 1669.
I receive a list of the key characters from the active period of the house. I was curious about the fact that who sold the house to the council was rope maker. I connected that idea with the thought that all historical events link between them in a net that brings us to the present.
I’m grateful for this challenge. It was a huge adventure, literally: drawing on such a scale, organize the characters, control lines, colors, etc. I learned deep history reading about my town, and hearing the linked stories that people who got close shared with me.
